‘A Belle River man who had been campaigning for the past three years to remove a tree stump from Lake St. Clair died late Friday night when he struck it with his snowmobile.

“The one who was concerned about getting it out was the one who got killed by it,” sobbed Grace Case, whose 47-year-old husband Robert Case was pronounced dead on the scene after striking the massive stump just before midnight Friday.

“I’m still trying to understand. This is the worst thing in my life. I lost my life.

‘Australian police are investigating a report that bodies donated to a Sydney university for medical research were sexually abused and that coffins were filled with parts from multiple bodies.

A Sydney newspaper reported Tuesday that University of New South Wales (NSW) documents showed that body parts had been interfered with sexually in the school of anatomy, which had its license to conduct anatomy classes revoked last November over improper labeling and storage of human remains.

The Sydney Morning Herald said university documents showed a staff member fondled breasts and vaginas of bodies and used the head of one body in a degrading way.’

‘Scores of police have been sent to the jungles of remote Papua New Guinea to hunt for a cult leader known as the Black Jesus, who is said to have sacrificed three young women to the devil and eaten their bodies.

In one case reported by villagers, a mother who had fallen under the cult leader’s spell led her 14-year-old daughter to his hideout, offered her to him as a virgin then stabbed her to death.

The Black Jesus, 31-year-old Steven Tari, started his cult last year after he was expelled from a Bible college for stealing from fellow students.’

‘A construction crew made a shocking discovery Wednesday, finding a corpse bound in duct tape stored inside a freezer at a south Medford home.

Medford detectives arrested 58-year-old Paul Henry Mahanna, who lives at the house on Fiona Lane. He was charged with first-degree abuse of corpse and remained lodged in the Jackson County Jail late Thursday on $500,000 bail.

“We may be adding some more charges against him,” Medford police Lt. Tim George said. “We consider this a very suspicious death.” [..]

“At first we thought it might be a game animal,” said Hanlin. “It was wrapped in so much duct tape that looked like a mummy.”‘

‘A woman who lost her premature baby a day after she was thrown in jail is suing the police department and two arresting officers who repeatedly ignored her pleas for medical help.

A police videotape released Tuesday shows Sofia Salva telling officers numerous times last Feb. 5 that she was pregnant, bleeding and needed to go to a hospital.

After the ninth request, the tape shows, a female officer asked: “How is that my problem?”�’

Eight people were arrested during a series of pre-dawn raids in the city as part of a major nationwide anti-terror investigation.

The son said his father’s health deteriorated, and he didn’t go on a feeding tube until January 29, 2004 — the day before he died. The younger Dixson said his father, nine days after the surgery, told him, “If I die in here, you go after them.”‘

‘Northern Territory police are on the trail of a serial cat killer after the tenth victim in less than three months was found horribly butchered in Darwin’s satellite city of Palmerston.

Since November, ten cats in the area have been killed and mutilated, with three found dead in the last two weeks. Police believe the same person is responsible for all ten deaths.

The way in which the animals have been killed is chilling. Each cat is skinned, disembowelled and then been put on show for the public to find. Often meat is cut from the bodies and found nearby. Other times it is removed and taken away altogether for an unknown purpose.’

‘Six girls at a rural high school were charged with homicide conspiracy after their principal found a list of 300 names and officials discovered online postings suggesting they kill people, authorities said Thursday.

School officials said the list, discovered in a classroom trash can, mostly named students and faculty members but also included Tom Cruise, Oprah Winfrey and the Energizer Bunny.

Sequatchie County High School Principal Tommy Layne said that he initially considered it a joke, but that authorities then found the ninth-graders’ online MySpace pages and postings that included the word “kill.”‘

‘The body of a 3-year-old boy was found in a septic tank less than 10 feet from the house where he was reported missing, Flathead County Sheriff Mike Meehan said Saturday.

The body of Loic J.M. Rogers was found late Friday, and an autopsy showed that he drowned, Meehan said.

“This is a tragedy,” Meehan said.

It was unclear how the boy got into the septic tank, and the manhole-sized lid was closed. Meehan did not classify the death as a homicide, but said investigators do not believe he could have climbed into the tank and put the lid back on himself. An investigation is continuing.’

`People living in the western region of the United States may be the most likely to become victims of a serial killer, while those living in the Northeast may be the least likely, according to a new study led by James DeFronzo, professor emeritus of sociology.

The study, published in the February issue of the journal Homicide Studies, also found that someone living in California may be almost three times more likely to become the victim of a male serial killer than a person living in the state of New York.’

`A young disabled man who receives care for his life-limiting illness at a hospice run by a nun spoke yesterday of his decision to use a prostitute to experience sex before he dies.

Sister Frances Dominica gave her support to 22-year-old Nick Wallis, who was born with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Sufferers usually die by their thirties.

Mr Wallis told staff at the Douglas House hospice in Oxford that he wanted to experience sexual intercourse. He explained that he had hoped to form an intimate and loving relationship with a woman, but his disability had acted as a barrier. [..]

The hospice staff, after taking advice from a solicitor, the clergy and health care professionals, decided to help him.’

`Police in northern China have detained three men for the deaths of two women whose corpses were to be sold as “ghost brides” to accompany dead men in the afterlife, state media said.

Authorities indicated that the killings last year were not isolated cases, the Legal Daily newspaper said on its Web site, but it did not give any details.

Yang Dongyan, 35, a farmer from Shaanxi province, said he had bought a young woman for $1,600 and planned to sell her as a bride, according to the paper.

But then he met Liu Shenghai, who told him that the woman could command a higher price as a “ghost bride,” it said. The tradition, called “minghun” or afterlife marriage, is common in the Loess Plateau region of northern China, where a recently deceased woman is buried with a bachelor to keep him company after his death.’

`A skydiver sabotaged a fellow jumper’s parachute after finding out that the woman was having an affair with her boyfriend, police say.

Els Van Doran, 37, fell 4000 feet to her death during a dive over an airfield in Zwarteberg, Belgium, on November 18 last year.

Van Doran, a married mother, had been taking part in a group jump with friend Els Clootemans, Clootemans’s Dutch boyfriend Marcel and a fourth parachutist.

The four linked hands in a star formation, but neither of Van Doran’s parachutes would open.

Her death plunge was captured on a camera fitted to her helmet. She fell into a garden and died instantly.’

`he partially mummified body of a baby, wrapped in 1950s newspapers, was found Monday by a woman going through her deceased parents’ belongings in a southeast Florida storage facility, according to police.

“It was a baby boy, partially mummified,” said Delray Beach police spokesman Jeff Messer. “The woman was pretty upset when she found it. You could make out the features pretty clearly.” The child had hair, he said.

The body was in a small suitcase, which was placed inside a larger suitcase, said Messer, who viewed the remains.

“It was spooky,” Messer said.’

‘Hundreds of chickens have been found dead in east China — and a court has ruled that the cause of death was the screaming of a four-year-old boy who in turn had been scared by a barking dog, state media reported on Wednesday. [..]

“One neighbour told police that he had heard the boy’s crying that afternoon and another villager confirmed the boy screaming by the henhouse window,” the newspaper said.

A court ruled the boy’s screaming was “the only unexpected abnormal sound” and that 443 chickens trampled each other to death in fear.

The boy’s father was ordered to pay 1,800 yuan ($230) in compensation to the owner of the chickens.’

`An elderly Brisbane woman who killed a dog by sealing it in a plastic bag and putting it in a wheelie bin has been fined $2500.

The 71-year-old woman, from Holland Park in Brisbane’s east, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty today in Brisbane Magistrates Court .

She was charged by the RSPCA after she put the dog in a plastic bag which she then dumped in a wheelie bin on October 13 last year.’

`A Buffalo teenager who said he killed and slowly dismembered his mother over several days at the urging of the 50-year-old man who was sexually abusing him was sentenced Monday to six months in jail.

Angel Rosa, 16, pleaded guilty in June to a first-degree manslaughter in the death of Madeline Irene, 46, whose head and hands were found encased in cement in a garbage can at the 50-year-old’s home after other body parts were found floating in a nearby river.

Psychiatrists for both the prosecution and the defense determined Rosa was emotionally under the control of Edwin Gimenez, a convicted child molester who was his co-defendant in the homicide.’

Ashitey, fisherman, whose plea was not taken when he appeared before the circuit court at Aflao on a provisional charge of murder was remanded until February 15.

Mrs Assan said not even the witness’s shout could compel Ashitey to stop the act, until the witness hit him on the forehead with a stick forcing him to take to his heels.’

`A man who tried to commit suicide by throwing himself onto the tracks of the Mexico City subway was later beaten to death by police, prosecutors said Saturday.

Mexico City attorney general’s office announced in a press statement that two city policemen who took custody of the man after he was removed from the tracks have been charged with homicide for allegedly beating him to death later in a patrol car. [..]

A forensic report showed the man died of blows to the chest and head that were not caused by his jumping onto the tracks.’
