I don’t know why you’d want to jump over a moving car anyways. Atleast only the car got hurt. 🙂

‘About 26,000 people are killed every year by the 100 million land mines believed to be scattered around the world. [..]
Removing mines and making them safe is relatively easy. Detecting them is difficult and risky. Conventional methods, using electronic mine detectors, heavy machines, sniffer dogs, or gentle probes into the ground using a sharp object, are time-consuming, costly — and dangerous. Sometimes, those searching for mines become victims themselves.
Now, a Danish company called Aresa Biodetection believes it has found a cheaper and safer method to find land mines by using a plant that changes color when it detects explosives in the soil. It has conducted tests using a genetically modified thale cress plant. The thale cress family includes the cress plant used often in salads and also the weeds that grow in sidewalk cracks.’

Yesterday I posted something about the ugly logo they’ve come up with for the 2012 Olympics in London and mentioned how a goatse alternative logo got some air time. Well, here’s the video. 🙂

‘A lion and a tiger kept as exotic pets on the roof of a Mexican meat processing plant killed a man feeding them Monday, Mexican media said.
Caretaker Angel Aguilar, 56, was taking pieces of chicken to feed the two big cats when the lion swiped at him through the bars of its cage and pulled him inside, Reforma daily said. The tiger then joined in the attack.
Paramedics arrived at the plant in the rough Mexico City neighborhood of Iztapalapa while the man was still alive but they could not get past the animals to treat him. [..]
After the attack, which left scraps of bloodstained clothing on the floor of the cage, the animals were sedated and the tiger’s jaws tied around a chunk of wood.
The tiger later died, apparently of suffocation, after being transported by animal protection authorities to a nearby zoo in a small container. The lion survived the journey.’

A friend of mine has been filming a a whole bunch of gigs lately, and was amused when he came across this little snippet during the video editing.
Apparently, the gig took a decidedly homosexual turn at one point, and neither he nor the band noticed at the time. Quite clear in the audio of the video tho. 🙂

This is what happens when you pass out drunk in a house near a lake.
It’s good to have friends who can help you. 🙂

‘A Filipino in a drunken rage hacked dozens of people with a machete, killing 10 and wounding 19.
The killings took place in Gadgaran village on the central island of Samar.
A local police chief said suspect Danny Guades went from house to house before dawn hacking dozens of people, including relatives.
After attacks in two houses, he continued his stabbing spree at another home where villagers were attending a wake for a dead neighbour.’
Well, I suppose that it seems to work. [shrug]

It seems a bit stupid to be claiming this is an alternative energy source, ’cause thermodynamics dictate you’ll be putting more energy into the system than you can recover from the combustion. But, it’s a neat little trick anyway. 🙂

Erk.
‘[..] Peter William Eaves contacted Last Word to tell us that, while the surface of a long-established sand/gravel drive (laid in the 1920s or 30s) was being improved, a very strange phenomenon was discovered.
Beneath the drive, at a depth of 25 centimetres, were least 13 live crabs (all being around 7 cm in width). See a video of the crustaceans, courtesy of Mark Leitch. One had a barnacle its back, so it seems that it must have at one time lived near the sea. The nearest sea water is an estuary around 4km, and the sea itself considerably further.
Peter has owned the land next to the drive for around 40 years and reports there have been no repairs or excavations there during that period. We’re hoping that there’s some one out there than can tell us what on earth is going on here.’
